The Concept
For Catherine Dunne and Tanis McGregor, decorating doors grew out of a genuine love for entertaining with friends and family on those special occasions that mark each one of our lives. Rarely a month went by when there wasn’t someone or something to celebrate. Over the years, Catherine and Tanis dug through their closets and local craft stores to fashion many a door decoration: a gigantic pair of pink booties for the baby shower of twin girls, an oversized graduation cap and tassel for a college bound graduate, a musical love letter to a husband on his 50th birthday.
What began as an expression of their personal stories and collective talents soon brought neighbors and clients knocking; it turns out that they too wanted to commemorate their stories and bring them from door to table. It wasn’t long before the two became known as the “Door Ladies” — a party planner and an interior designer who could create party magic with their Door Couture.
What started as a pre-school mom friendship years ago has grown into something bigger. Catherine and Tanis are now Entertaining Editors for Traditional Home Magazine with a monthly column called “On The Table” which highlights a reason to throw a party or intimate gathering in the home and how to decorate creatively and affordably to make that occasion memorable. They frequently appear on special segments of the KTLA Morning News — the second most watched morning program in Los Angeles. In addition, Catherine and Tanis are featured guest speakers to the home decorating community. They inspire listeners with their passion for entertaining by teaching their innovative Door to Table follow-through design concept.
